ARTILLERY AMMUNITION

155 mm SERIES

MKKN produces a broad range of hollow forged steel 155 mm ammunition bodies capable of meeting the specifications of field guns, howitzers and gun-howitzers.

HIGH EXPLOSIVE (HE) M107
MKKN manufacture steel bodies for the 155 mm High Explosive (HE) M107 howitzer munition used for blast and fragmentation effects.
HE M107 is one the most widely used artillery projectiles, it is filled with TNT, RDX or a mixture of them and it is compatible with standard NATO fuses.
The hollow forged body is made in quenched and annealed AISI 1045 steel and the shape is design to maximize the aerodynamic efficiency.
A no-quenchable soft metal rotating band encircles the base of the body. The rotating band is protected by possible damages during finishing or handling using a dedicated polymeric ring (to be removed before firing).
A lifting plug is installed on the tip of the body to prevent possible damages to the fuse threads during handling and storage operations.

TECHNICAL DETAILS
Caliber 155 mm
Projectile Weight with Fuse approx. 43 Kg
Projectile Length (with fuse) 689 mm
Projectile length (without fuse) 604 mm
Velocity during Fire 380 ÷ 800 m/s
Maximum Range 24 km
Explosive Weight 6 ÷ 9 Kg (TNT, RDX or mixture)

HIGH EXPLOSIVE (HE) M795
The M795 shows most of the features of the M107. It is filled with TNT or IMX-101 and the hollow forged body is made in quenched and annealed high fragmentation HF-1 steel.
The chemical stability of IMX-101 explosive minimizes the risk of accidental detonation making this ammunition safer in extreme or difficult environment, although its lethality is higher than M107.

TECHNICAL DETAILS
Caliber 155 mm
Projectile Weight with Fuse approx. 43 Kg
Projectile Length (with fuse) 843 mm
Projectile length (without fuse) 758 mm
Maximum Range 22 km
Explosive Weight 9 ÷ 11 Kg (TNT or IMX-101)

ARTILLERY TRAINING AMMUNITION MR103
The MR103 is a 155 mm training ammunition loaded with blanks with reduced fragmentation. The body features are equivalent to the M107 (same aerodynamics and precision) and specific bang and smoke occur after firing for training purposes.

AIR-DELIVERED SYSTEMS

MKKN produces a broad range of hollow forged steel 155 mm ammunition bodies capable of meeting the specifications of field guns, howitzers and gun-howitzers.

MK-80 SERIES

MKKN manufactures steel bodies for unguided, low-drag general-purpose bomb, Mark 81/82/83/84.
All the fabrication process for the main body and the parts are internally manufactured and assembled, and each component is tested before acceptance.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

MKKN provides innovative solutions for product development, testing, quality control, revision and life cycle extension.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

The technical office of MKKN internally develops the design of components and systems using 3D simulators and CAD-CAM software. Before production, prototypes are manufactured to guarantee the clients specifications.
Complete production line with working islands and automated stations are also designed, integrated, installed, commissioned and operated by MKKN engineers.

TESTING AND QUALITY CONTROL

The laboratory and the quality control department of MKKN continuously carry out numerous measurements and tests to assure that material, components and assembled products are compliant with the technical specifications.
Equipment at MKKN’s laboratories includes tensile testing machine, hardness testing machine, XRF spectrometer, impact testing machine, high-pressure hydro testing station, 3D measuring machine, including devices for metallographic and coating quality control.

REVISION AND LIFE CYCLE EXTENSION

Ammunition has a specific lifetime depending on the environment and storage conditions. In case of possible lifetime extension MKKN has the capabilities to restore the components and the assembly to the original conditions and modernize some features upon customer request (high performance materials, new coatings, new packaging, new generation fuses).
